Plenty of persuasive

The last term or so my year level has been working persuasive writing. Persuasive writing is the ability to change the way someone is thinking, to get them on your side. In persuasive writing it is important to include statistics, professional opinion, emotive language, alliteration, idioms and exaggeration which was my personal favourite….

Below is a picture of one of the best pieces I did. With the most serious topic of SPRINKLES!!

Notice how I’ve used exaggeration in my second last paragraph ( in red ). I thought this would be a good idea to show what round sprinkles could do.

Thanks for reading can’t wait to hear your comments! 🙂

The Roald Dahl Classic, Fantastic Mr Fox

It’s going to be really great reading Fantastic Mr Fox by Roahl Dahl. Today we started and we got to chapter 4. My teacher Mrs Harris wants us to do some inferences.

Down in the valley, there were three farms. The owners of these farms had done well.’ I think it said the farmers had done well because they were really rich and their farm was working the way they planed.

‘I can smell these goons a mile away. I can smell one from the other. In my head this meant that Mr Fox thought they were silly people and he could clearly tell if the farmers were there or not.

Why do you think Mr. Fox was always especially careful when coming out of his hole? I think mr fox was especially careful coming out of his hole because the farmers hate him the might want to kill him so he makes sure no one is in sight.

“It will never grow again,” said Mr. Fox. “I shall be tail-less for the rest of my life.” He looked very glum. What does the word glum mean? I know glum is a bad mood, you become sad and don’t really talk to other people.

Thanks for reading, Ruby.

What Anzac Day Means To Me

imageAnzac Day is known worldwide but what does it really mean to me? Young men went to war thinking ” adventure ” but what they had in mind was completely different to reality! They left a perfect life and a happy home just for us.

We remember them with the rising sun, a poppy, a footy game between Essendon and Collingwood even services and marches. All those things we have the chance to go to, they make the time to really think about what they have done for their country’s rights.
We wake up at the break of day to refresh our mind about their courage, persistence and compassion for each other.

Blood stains that battle field of Gallipoli, their crosses will never fade and those faces… We will always remember and never forget. If Australian men can give up their lives then we can at least remember. We are honoured to be living in Australia. 100 years later, LEST WE FORGET.

A Friend, a House

Seconds, minutes, hours past. My determination to leave was unbelievably high. Ding dong, ” Ruby” yelled mum from across the house. I’m coming! Ella… Ruby!

Donuts and watermelon in my hand. Chocolate chip finger buns in the car. I couldn’t wait. We got to the house we carried the grocerys in.

We played makeovers, fancy dress, we went on the trampoline. ( Ella tried doing a flip, she landed on her back… It was a complete and utter hilarious site.) We started to play tennis out in the backyard. Then inside, it was raining. Snuggled up waching a movie before Ella takes me home.
