War is declared in 1914 and two Aussie mates want to join the adventure. The soon to be called ANZACS ran up the cliffs of Gallipoli, many died but three new friends Roy, Wally and Tom try to survive. When the 9 hour armistice comes the Turks and Aussies traded their goods. ( the Turks thought no good of the bully beef!!) This touching story shows just how much mateship and courage these men had to get them through the Great War.
This mixed genre book, in my opinion, is a great book for older primary school kids and above because some sections of the book could be confronting. The illustrations in this book are very detailed and they show a lot of effort.
The author Ruth Starke has completely changed how I thought about Anzac Day. All together I rate this book and 8/10 because their are some bits that I didn’t understand and I think other people wouldn’t understand either.
